Mango lassi is definitely something I had never tried until I got to New Zealand. It is definitely one of the favourite Indian things people love here, from what I have seen. I mean, rich mangoey sweet goodness, how can anyone not like it. My mum used to make savoury lassis back in India, on hot summer days and mango smoothies. Hot summer day or not, you are going to love this recipe if you haven’t had lassi before.

This recipe is my take on Mango Lassi and once you’ve made it, you’ll realise how easy and yummy it is! You’ll stop buying it at your favourite Indian takeaway. The goodness of mango, yoghurt and honey, makes this super simple recipe a perfect drink for anyone and for any occasion.

I am adding a pinch of salt and cracked pepper to balance out that sweetness. Some people add cardamom but I chose not to so the dominant flavour is MANGO only and not cardamom. You can absolutely add it in the recipe if you like though.

You will need a blender for this recipe, a hand blender will also do the job.

Recipe

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Serves : 4 People

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Yoghurt
  • 2 Medium (4 Cup) Fresh Mango Pulp
  • 2 Cups Ice Cubes
  • 8 tbsp Honey (adjust to taste)
  • A Pinch Salt
  • A Pinch Cracked Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Pistachio (to garnish)
  • 4 tbsp Frozen Mango Cubes (optional)

Steps

  • Peel and dice your fresh mango. Use equal quantity of frozen mango if you don’t have fresh mangoes.
  • Transfer in a blender jug.
  • Add honey, salt, pepper, yoghurt and ice cubes.
  • Blend everything for 2-3 minutes. If the consistency is too thick, add water or more ice cubes and blend until you get the right consistency.
  • Garnish with frozen mango dices and chopped pistachio. Enjoy. :D
