Apple crumble is definitely one of my top favourite winter desserts. I love this recipe because, I use a combination of green and red apples. It is a game changer! Try it and find out. The sweet and the sour apples mixed with other ingredients is just heaven in your mouth.

My small skillet is 16cm in diameter. If you don't have a skillet you can cook the apple in any pan and then transfer the cooked apple into an oven safe dish, before adding the crumble mix on top.

If you want to make this recipe for more than 2 people, just double or triple the quantities as per your requirement and you are good to go! Happy Baking!!!

Recipe

  • Prep Time: 10-15 minutes
  • Total Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Bake at: 180°C (356F) for 15 minutes
  • Serves: 1-2 People (1 if you are me)

Ingredients

For the Crumble

  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Rolled Oats
  • 1 tbsp Desiccated Coconut
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • A pinch Flaky Salt
  • 1 tbsp Walnuts (Roughly Chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Butter

For the Apples

  • 1/2 Medium Green Apple Diced
  • 1/2 Medium Red Apple Diced
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • A pinch Flaky Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1-2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Walnuts (to garnish)
  • 1 tbsp Pistachio (to garnish)

Steps

  • Pre-heat oven at 180°C (356F).
  • Start by dicing the apples into your desirable dice size. You can also slice them into wedges. Your pick.
  • Transfer the apples into a skillet.
  • Add brown sugar, cinnamon powder, salt, vanilla extract and lemon juice to the apples.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes. If you prefer more cooked apples, cook for longer, but just keep in mind, apples will get cooked further in the oven as well.
  • When your apple mix is getting cooked, start preparing the crumble mix.
  • In a bowl, add all-purpose flour, rolled oats, desiccated coconut, brown sugar, salt, walnuts and butter.
  • Combine everything until crumbly consistency.
  • Once the apple mix is ready, evenly sprinkle the crumble mix on top.
  • Bake for roughly 15 minutes or until the top is slightly golden brown and you can see the apple mix bubbling on the sides.
  • Serve with your favourite vanilla ice-cream and garnish with your choice of nuts, I'm using walnuts and pistachio. Enjoy! :)
