Growing up Mum would force feed me Haldi Doodh if I even uttered the word 'I am sick'. It's funny how the things you hated growing become the things you love when you're an adult. This recipe is my take on the Westernised version of Haldi Doodh also known as Turmeric Latte.

I have used Whole Milk for this recipe, but you can choose your choice of milk to make this recipe. I have had Haldi Doodh with whole milk growing up, so I have done this recipe using that. You can skip the fresh turmeric if you can't find it in your supermarket, and if you are using fresh turmeric, beware, IT STAINS everything it touches!

We all know turmeric is good for you, but you don't have to wait to get sick to drink this. This is a perfect drink for a cold winter night or a rainy day for a wind down in my opinion.

Recipe

  • Prep Time: 2 minutes
  • Cook Time: 3-5 minutes
  • Serves : 1

Ingredients

Haldi Doodh

  • 250ml (1Cup) Milk
  • 1/2tsp Turmeric Fresh Grated
  • 1/2tsp Ginger
  • 1/2tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 Cardamom
  • 1tbsp Honey
  • 1/4tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/8tsp Salt (a pinch)

Steps

  • Add milk to a pot
  • To the pot, add grated turmeric, turmeric powder, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and honey
  • Bring the pot to a boil and simmer for 2-3 mins, keep stirring the milk as you bring it to temperature
  • Strain the milk into a container or a bowl to get rid of whole spices
  • Froth the milk if you have a frother, or just serve it without frothing (will still taste the same).
  • Sprinkle some cinnamon powder on top and Enjoy!!!
